Confession . . . I am a total sucker for cute restaurants with fresh and local foods items that are bursting with flavor. With its country decor and amazing twists on some classics, Whisk Gourmet in Coral Gables is one of my absolute favorite lunch spots, especially for those longs days at the UM School of Law. I always crave the Roasted Turkey, Cranberries, and Goat Cheese salad! The dressing is made fresh every morning and the roasted meat is made in-house. The place is humming with locals, so be prepared to wait a few minutes if you are coming during lunch hour. I can guarantee it will be worth the wait!

Under Control is a song recorded by Scottish DJ Calvin Harris and Swedish DJ Alesso, featuring vocals from English band Hurts. While Alesso first dropped this track at a DJ set in Ibiza this past summer, the song was formally released on October 7, 2013. I heard it last night at the Cedric Gervais Halloween Party at LIV in Miami, and I instantly loved the beat. Be prepared to hear it all over the radio stations and remixed on the dance floors!
In honor of Halloween yesterday, I thought I would post one of my favorite drinks of the autumn season . . . my pumpkin pie smoothie! This pumpkin pie smoothie, my sister’s favorite, truly tastes like pumpkin pie (minus the butter, heavy cream, and fat)!
Meet my pumpkin pie smoothie. This delectable, healthful smoothie is packed with vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. Top each serving with some light whipped cream, ground flaxseeds, or a pinch of nutmeg if you like!
- 1 cup pumpkin (Libby’s is my favorite)
- 1 large ripe banana
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon honey or Truvia sweetner (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 5 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into 2 glasses and serve.
